Problems with headless WordPress websites

Headless WordPress was a trend a few years back in Finland, and we saw many sites renewed with the headless stack. The biggest selling points have been a better development experience, performance, and security. Now, we are seeing many clients struggling with their headless sites and asking us to renew sites with the traditional WordPress stack. The biggest problems are expensive maintenance costs, costly development, overly strict content editing capabilities, and poor performance. I would like to share our experiences with headless sites and what we can learn from these mistakes.

This session delves into the rise and fall of the headless WordPress trend in Finland. Initially embraced for its promises of enhanced development experience, improved performance, and heightened security, headless WordPress sites have since presented significant challenges. We will explore the real-world issues clients face, such as high maintenance and development costs, restrictive content editing, and subpar performance, leading them to revert to traditional WordPress stacks.
